NAQG Accreditation
Hello Quilling fans - an update from the A-Team!
Oh yes, we are still around. Though we have not been very vocal lately, we have been hard at work. We are currently working on the comprehensive quilling manual - a major component of the Accreditation program. We have finalized instructions and photography for individual shapes and scrolls, and we are wrapping up the Techniques section, which contains detailed instructions for over 20 different techniques and/or variations.
We know it seems we have been at this for a long time, but believe us you should try looking at it from our end of things! But we are committed to being as thorough and as comprehensive as possible, regardless of the time required, in order to create a valuable resource not only for current NAQG members, but for future quillers too.
Sherry Rodehaver, Ann Martin and Donna Del Giudice have been meeting every week for an hour or more, hashing out details -- investing time throughout the week, preparing material, and doing homework assignments for the following meeting. These meetings take place via Yahoo IM conferencing, which may not be most convenient way to meet, but it is certainly easier than trying to yell from Idaho all the way to Vermont! After over 80 scheduled meetings, with emails flying back and forth constantly, we have ceased to be amazed at the wonders of technology, but we are thankful when we consider what it has enabled us to accomplish without ever leaving the comfort of our own homes.
So we just wanted to poke our heads out from among the cyber-stacks of documents and files we have been compiling to let you know that the A-team still lives, steadfastly rolling along behind the scenes, an invisible force striking a blow, or better yet, a scroll for quillers everywhere.
Send the A-Team your comments, questions and ideas.
The Accreditation Committee was formed after a question was posed to the NAQG Members Forum asking if accreditation would be addressed at the 2005 AGM.
A lively, enthusiastic, and positive dialog followed and within a matter of days a steering committee was formed. Its purpose is to explore the possibility of NAQG offering its own accreditation program. Research, ideas, and suggestions have been shared and compiled into a Definition of Accreditation paper which is available here for you to read and comment on.
It is a very exciting time and we, the Accreditation Committee, look forward to discussing every aspect of accreditation and the potential impact it could have on quillers who seek to evaluate their skill against an objective, pre-set standard. We encourage you to take a few moments to read the "Definition of Accreditation" paper.
In order for us to determine how best to meet the needs of the membership, we need to hear from YOU! The more quillers who participate in this process, the better the NAQG can serve you. So please, invest the brief time required to inform yourself and send us your questions and thoughts! Your opinions and comments really do matter and will help shape the future of NAQG! Get involved, or as some on the committee like to say: "Shake and Bake...let's get this thing cookin'!"
For the love of quilling,
