The Second Annual Guild Meeting (AGM)

"Our second annual AGM was a great success. About fourteen quillers and spouses came into town. They all checked into the Harley Hotel and then came over to my house for fruit and cheese before going out for dinner with my husband Ross and myself. Some of the faces were familiar and some new. Mary Alice and Walter Kattwinkel, Bobbye and Dave Singer, Evelyn Rooney, Donna DelGuidice and Rita and Eugene Anderson all came up from New Jersey. Edith and Bill Engleberg came down from Canada. Malinda and Jim Johnston from Missouri, and Beth Tremaine from North Carolina. We all had a great time getting acquainted and reacquainted. Rick Whitman (Ellington, CT) and Sandy Billings (Suffield, CT) met me early Saturday morning to finish setting up our meeting room and getting the traveling exhibit ready for its first appearance.

Saturday morning we were joined by Barbara Maccaferri (Plymouth, MA), Maureen Malloy (Elmwood, CT), Nancy Dooley (Colchester, CT), Donna Ratigan (Chester, CT), Jinny and Julian Alexander (Rochester, NY), Pat Oayhout (Springfield, MA), Gail Mac Donald and her husband (Middleboro, MA). We all met at the Harley Hotel for a day of sharing, learning, demonstrating and having a wonderful time.

All of the attendees brought pieces to display. We set up a table with different books on quilling (from the U.S.A., England and Holland) members had let us borrow for the day.

As each quiller came in they were given an AGM packet with a name tag, the agenda, a list of attendees and some patterns donated by Guy and Lura Silvernail. We spent the morning demonstrating different technique to each other. After a delicious luncheon, we returned to th meeting room. A number of people cane in to view the quilling and meet the quillers. A number of them expressed interest in learning to quill. As always, we all had so much information to share with each other, that the afternoon just seemed to fly by. Everyone agreed that this should be an annual event."
